Prior to founding The Ferraro Group in 2004, Mr. Ferraro spent 12 years at R&R Partners, a national communications company based in Las Vegas, where he served as president of the government and public affairs division.
Before joining R&R, Mr. Ferraro was the assistant to the county manager in Clark County, Nevada (greater Las Vegas) where he was the county spokesperson and issue manager for the fastest growing urban county in the nation. In the late 1980’s, Mr. Ferraro worked at McCarran International Airport as public relations specialist and lobbyist for Clark County.
Upon graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1985, Mr. Ferraro worked in Washington, D.C. for U.S. Senator Paul Laxalt in his role as general chairman of the Republican Party, a special position created for Senator Laxalt by President Ronald Reagan. Mr. Ferraro served as assistant to the general chairman.
In addition to his four decades of lobbying activity in Nevada and Washington, D.C., Mr. Ferraro is a political consultant who has managed and/or been an advisor on numerous statewide candidate and ballot campaigns.
In 2004, Mr. Ferraro was commissioned by Governor Kenny Guinn to serve a four-year term on the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission. In 2007, he was appointed chairman of the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission and served as chair for three years.
Mr. Ferraro was inducted into Junior Achievement’s Northern Nevada Business Leaders Hall of Fame in 2008. In 2014, the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education conferred upon Mr. Ferraro the citation of Distinguished Nevadan in recognition of his achievements contributing to the economic, cultural and social advancement of Nevada. In 2018, the University of Nevada Alumni Association named him the Distinguished Alumnus for the Reynolds School of Journalism.
He is a member of the Executive Advisory Committee of the E.L. Wiegand Foundation, a trustee of the Bretzlaff Foundation, a member of the Board of Advisers for the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, former Chairman of the Executive Committee of The Nature Conservancy, trustee emeritus of The University of Nevada Foundation, and formerly served as a director for First Independent Bank of Nevada.
Mr. Ferraro and his wife Carolyn live in Reno, NV. Their oldest son works for The Ferraro Group, their daughter and younger son live and work in San Francisco.
His first grandchild, Margaret James, was born in January of 2023.
