For the first time ever the CWSA (Competitive Wake Surf Association) World Championship was held in Arizona with The Ferraro Group’s longtime client Scorpion Bay and Desert Troon Companies. Often held internationally, Scorpion Bay Marina showcased the 92 highest-ranked male and female wake surfers from 12 different countries (U.S., Japan, Russia, Canada, Germany, Chinese Taipei, France, South Korea, Switzerland, Belgium, Cyprus and Turkey) battling for the World Championship title last month.
This weeklong event showcased top wake surfers displaying a wide variety of skills from blind, switch and surface spins to advanced aerials, shuv-its, grabs, combination tricks and more. This was the first time the CWSA world championship wake surfing event has been held in Arizona, the past two years being in Geneva Switzerland and Seoul Korea.
The Ferraro Group team managed local and national media to magnify the sport, athletes and its Scorpion Bay client reaching more than 200,000 people and generating more than $50,000 in ad value through the positive media coverage. Event organizers and the marina team were able to overcome challenging weather to deliver a world-class competition as they opened the door to future world championships taking place at the marina. Congrats to each of the winners including several local Arizona competitors that took top honors.
