Nevada Donor Network

Reno, NV – To celebrate National Donate Life Month, Nevada Donor Network will kick off a statewide campaign to register 2,016 organ, eye and tissue donors in Nevada this April. National Donate Life Month encourages Americans to register as donors, and celebrates those who have saved lives through donation.

Through registry events, a statewide media campaign and a social media awareness campaign, Nevada Donor Network hopes to increase the number of registrations by April 30. Through its “Life Life, Give Life” campaign, Nevada Donor Network is partnering with businesses, partner organizations and non-profits across the state to help “spread the electronic word” by providing a turnkey social media kit for partners to utilize on their social channels. On National Blue & Green Day, April 15, people are encouraged to wear blue and green and post pictures on social media to bring awareness to the importance of donation. Nevadans who have not yet designated their wishes regarding donation are encouraged to register. While most people are familiar with the opportunity to register at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, many don’t know that online registration is also available any time at www.nvdonor.org.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE NEED?

  • Currently more than 122,000 patients are on the US waiting list, in need of an organ transplant. Nearly 600 of those patients are Nevadans.
  • 22 people die each day because there are not enough organs available.
  • 1 million tissue transplants are completed each year
  • 48,000 people receive the gift of sight through cornea donation yearly

WILL FIRST RESPONDERS AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL SAVE MY LIFE IF I’M A REGISTERED DONOR?

The preservation of life is always the number one priority of first responders, doctors and nurses. If you are sick or injured, they will always work to save your life.

AM I TOO OLD TO BE A DONOR?

Anyone can register as a donor. All people, regardless of age or medical history, should consider themselves potential donor heroes.
